How to Attract Whatever You Want

This is something I've wanted to talk about for a long time and I don't know why I never have. I am a huge believer in the law of attraction. You can call it whatever you want, and I'm not talking about religious beliefs because I believe this works in accordance with all beliefs.

I know everyone has probably heard of the law of attraction and "the Secret" but have you ever tried using it? I've actually been using it for a very long time, before I even knew what I was doing. When I first started working, I would write the name of the place I wanted to get a job and taped it up on my wall. I got the job every single time.

Yesterday morning, I woke up with a start and realised that I am literally living this life surrounded by things I attracted to me. Every single thing has been attracted on purpose. My husband (I had a list of attributes in my ideal husband-yes makes me laugh was on the very top), my apartment, my job, Leigh's job, even my body have all been attracted to me because I wrote down EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED.
I have the lists to prove that what I have is what I wanted. I wanted an apartment that was cozy and newer and we could make home for awhile. I wanted a job that would support me and I would have fun doing while I pursued my personal training, competing and other interests. I wanted a fit, healthy body that I could have fun dressing up. All of these things are written in my lovely notebook. I highly recommend getting a pretty one! Or a cool leather one if you're a boy.

Whenever I get inspired, I write down things in my little notebook. I make lists of things I want to do, places I want to visit. It is all happening.
There are a few key things to remember when it comes to using the law of attraction:\

1. Don't worry about the how. When I was writing out our dream apartment list, I worried that it may be out of our price range. I ended up putting an ad on Craigslist, got an email within minutes from my now-landlord.  Our apartment would be out of our price range, but our landlord offered us lower rent. Write down what you want, the how will unravel itself.

2. Know that you need to do the work. Nothing will appear out of thin air. You still have to apply for that job, go on that date, go do your workout, post that ad on craigslist. Things will start happening for you when you start DOING things for yourself.

3. Visualise what it is that you want. This worked very well for me when I was training for my competition. Every time I got on that treadmill, I pictured myself standing on the stage. My vision was so clear, there was no doubt in my mind I'd get there. And I did!

4. BELIEVE! Once you start to believe, there will be no stopping you. Things might not come the second you wish for them or in the right order, but they will arrive eventually!

There is really nothing to lose thinking this way. Worst case scenario, you get to daydream about your ultimate life! I'll give you an example. Monday I posted on my Facebook about needing a new gym membership. Wednesday I was handed a one month pass to one right by my work.  Here's another example: a few years ago, when I was working in an office, I set my desktop background to gerbera daisies. They are my absolute favourite flower. Two days later, my Mom showed up at my work with a bunch for me. My Mom does nice things for me all the time, but this was the first time she'd ever brought me flowers to work! And it's funny that she would bring that exact type of flower to me at work, when I was looking at gerbera daisies all day on my computer.

If you are curious about this, try this: Think of something you want to attract, start with something small. Like a cup of coffee. Keep thinking about how you want a cup of coffee to appear. See if one shows up in your life, someone may offer to bring you a coffee, ask you to go for coffee, or in some other form! It really is amazing.

Catching Up

Happy Summer!

I can't believe it's already been over a month since my competition! Time flies when your having fun, that's for sure! It's funny how fast the pain of competition prep fades. I remember thinking in the last few weeks how I would never forget how brutal it was, but I already don't remember. I had a good laugh about my trainer about my few little meltdowns I had. There was the throwing a full coffee out my truck window, the time I went home after and all I wanted was to drink the wine in my fridge and instead I had an A&W Diet Root Beer and cried my eyes out. That might sound dramatic to you, but if you've ever competed you know what I'm talking about.
I have been seriously enjoying being lazy and giving my body a break. I've added back all my favourite healthy foods and discovered a few new ones. I've also had a few cheat meals, maybe a few too many! I really missed going to restaurants and fun things with my hubby, we're so happy to have date nights back! It's very interesting seeing what I can eat now, what makes me feel good and what makes me feel like crap. One thing I'm finding interesting is how much more I can eat now that I don't have a sitting job. I'm on my feet all day and I must be burning way more calories because I don't gain weight nearly as easily. I'm so grateful I took a chance and changed my lifestyle. Which reminds me, with my active lifestyle I have had to change my entire wardrobe. Since I'm on my feet all day, I have to wear comfortable shoes and looking cute is tricky. Yesterday, my hubby insisted on buying me these adorable shoes and I am LOVING them!

Weight-wise, I've definitely put on a few healthy lbs but I still fit in all my cute clothes I bought right before the competition, so I'm happy. I have still been active but hard workouts have not been in my life for the past month or so. I'm meeting with my trainer tomorrow. Time to set some new goals!

In other not fitness related news, I have been spending a ton of time with my Mom trying to make our new apartment really cozy and properly decorated. With our old apartment, I said I was going to do this and that and never got around to it. Thank god for my Mom because she has a great eye! She has also been helping me clean and organize which everyone who knows me knows that is not my strong point! I will post more of my projects soon!

I also attended my 10 year high school reunion last weekend! That was definitely interesting. I am still friends with many of my friends from high school and with Facebook it wasn't that shocking to see everyone. The most shocking thing to me is that I realised I'm a completely different person than I was in high school! I'm stronger, happier, healthier than I ever thought I would be when I was in high school and I love it. I will post some pics soon, I seem to have temporarily misplaced my memory card. I guess not EVERYTHING has changed in 10 years. :-P

Beachy Books

So it's June. In Vancouver it hasn't been very nice weather wise. It kinda reminds me of when I was younger, my family used to go camping every summer for two weeks. My Dad would go back to work during the week, and we'd stay with my Mom at the campsite. I LOVED it. When it rained, I kind of loved it even more. I have such fond memories of my mom making chicken noodle soup and curling up inside the tent reading book after book. I'm a dork, you guys know that. Anyways, lately even with the rain I have been in the mood for summery, beach books. There is an adorable little used bookstore in Maple Ridge called Caroline's Books. I popped in there yesterday to pick up some beachy paperbacks. I devoured this book and can't wait to read more by this author:

Also this one.

Any book by this author is a perfect summer read:

I haven't read this one yet, but I love this author so it's next on my pile. An imaginary pile on my Kobo anyways.

I will have another book list in a few weeks as many authors I love are coming out with new books! What's on your reading list for summer?

Spaghetti Squash, Round 2

image via Steamy Kitchen

I loved my spaghetti squash recipe so much and I couldn't wait to try another variation. I didn't take pics of it because frankly, it did not look pretty but it was definitely delicious! I really enjoy using spaghetti squash as a pasta alternative. It obviously has a different texture than pasta but it still tastes great and is just as satisfying as pasta. Also, you don't get that same heavy feeling after!

For this dish, I did was use my same recipe as this blog post. When the spaghetti squash was done, I put it in a casserole dish, added about 1 cup of low fat Ricotta cheese, and then sprinkled parmesan on top. I baked it in the oven at 400 degrees for about half an hour until the top was bubbly. AWESOME!

Hungry Chef and Stella & Dot

Last weekend, Leigh and I drove out to Harrison for a little half-day trip. We wanted to get out of the city (apparently Coquitlam is the new Vancouver) and spend some time together. On the way there, I searched restaurants on my phone. What did we do before iPhones, seriously? I found a new restaurant on Google Maps that boasted "Comfort Food Favourites". Umm yeah, I'm in.

He loves getting his picture taken. :-P
In this pic, I am wearing the necklace my amazing friends gave me after my competition last month! I love it, it's sooo pretty! It goes with nearly all of my clothes. If you are in the lower mainland area and looking for a rep, check out my friend Jody's site.

Meatball sub and Caesar Salad. Man food!

Girl Food. Mini burgers and Yam fries!
It makes me so happy to go on these little adventures and find fun places! Do you have any fun restaurants you recommend? Or favourite places?
