Project 8: Curl my hair

Today I attempted something I've been wanting to do forever. Curl my hair! Since I was going to work, I used the curling iron as a wand for loose waves. This is terrible picture quality but oh well. I felt pretty cute with my hair done!

Project #7: Layla Binder

I'm not a very organized person when it comes to papers, ect. I definitley lose things easily. However, having a dog made me realise that there is living being depending on me to take care of her, so I have become organized with Layla. I had all her papers in a manila envelope, but it was not a good system, things can get easily lost. So I created a Layla binder, with her vet visits and shot dates, training info, pretty much everything relating to her.

I still plan to put dividers in them with "Vet visits, insurance, training" ect but I can't find the dividers I bought. Shocking.

At least I won't lose any more Layla papers.

Project 5 and 6!

Okay nooowww I'm getting a little behind on my projects. But that's ok. I will finish them all!

Project 5: Homemade Microdermabrasion
This is one of those things I've seen a million times and always wanted to do. It was so easy it shouldn't even count as a project but this is my blog and I'm the boss so I say it does.
You mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with a few drops of water. Keep stirring until it makes a paste adding more water if needed. Rub gently in circles on your face, rinse well and moisturise as needed. You can do this weekly. My face felt so soft afterwards! I didn't take pic because I didn't put makeup on afterwards, I just went to bed. I'm so pale at this time of year makeup free pics are not happening.

Project 6: Pretty Fridge.
This was super easy but satisfying.
This is a Pinterest Project. Basically you put plastic placemats in your fridge to make it easier to clean and also I find it easier to spot things. Plus it just looks a whole lot prettier.
Can Project 7 be grocery shopping?

Project #4: Melt In Your Mouth Chicken

Some of my projects for the month are going to be recipes. After my competition, I despised chicken. I would rather go to the dentist than eat a plain baked chicken breast like the ones I consumed in ridiculous quantities in my contest prep. So I have been trying to find ways to make chicken less disgusting.
I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to try it. There's a million different recipes on there so I have no idea who's orginal idea it was. I have seen it with mayo before the greek yogurt version came out and it didn't interest me then at all.
I didn't take a pic of this chicken because it was not attractive at all. But it was yummy and moist. My husband said it would be good on top of salad or pasta. I also think I want to try it with bread crumbs to maybe make it crunchy?

Melt In Your Mouth Chicken

Ingredients
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts, halved.
  • 1 cup greek yogurt, non fat
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
Mix everything together, spread on top and sides of chicken breasts in a baking dish.
Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.

Yay for hating chicken a little bit less today.

Project Challenge: Project #2 and #3

So a week or so ago I posted about my 30 day project challenge!

It might seem like I'm a little behind on my projects but really I just haven't had a chance to blog about them.

Project #2 was pretty simple: Get a notebook for 2013 and make a goal list for the year. I do this every year and I find it so much fun to look back at my old notebooks and see how far I've come. In the pic above, the polka dot one is from 2010. The first page is a honeymoon packing check list :-). The second one is 2012 and the top one is for this year!  I picked this gorgeous journal up at HomeSense for $6 and I love it. As you can probably see, I'm obsessed with turquoise. I love writing things down and making lists so I carry this around with me for whenever inspiration strikes.

So my goal list is completed and over a page long! I have made a goal list for the past few years and I love doing them. I find it much different than "resolutions". Last year, I made a goal to compete in a fitness show. I didn't say lose weight, get in shape or any of the "typical" resolutions. I just did my best for 5 months. So this is the attitude that I will try to have.

Project #3 was a work related project. I tend to design workouts on blank peices of paper and end up with stacks of them. I decided to sort out all my client files and make sure everything was in it's proper place. I never realised how many clients I have until I did this! I love them all!

I decided to put my files in this file box I already have so I can take them home easily to work on programs!

So organized! Yay!

Project #4 and #5 coming soon. This is fun!

Project #1 - Memory Jar

The deal is, you get a little jar and every time something good or memorable happens or even something you are just grateful for, you write it on a slip of paper and put it in the jar, and at the end of the year, you read through them all and remember all the little things that made the year so awesome.

Project Cost - $3 (Jar from Michaels, cut up scrapbooking paper since I only scrapbooked that one time even though I bought enough supplies for ten scrapbooks)

I've been seeing this float around for over a month now and I thought it was a GREAT idea. When I wrote my 2012 recap post, I felt like there were so many things I was missing. It's not just about the big things, it's about the little things. Those little things can add up to an amazing life and I don't want to forget them.
So this year on New Years Eve, it will probably be just a quiet night at home with Leigh and Layla, snuggled up with some champagne and reading our memories. I'm so looking forward to it.

30 Day Challenge

Happy new year!! I'm so excited for 2013.
So I decided to do something kinda crazy. Not as crazy as this, but still. It's not fitness related at all, although I do still have plans to kick up my fitness a bit more. You see, January is my least favourite month. I LOVE the fall/Christmas season so much that when it's over, I kinda just want to hide under my duvet until May. So I thought to myself how can I keep myself excited and entertained during this boring ass month?
Enter my challenge:

Now, this might seem crazy but I'm going to keep it very simple:

  • Create 30 projects in 30 days. Not one project per day. Meaning I can do 5 on a Sunday if I want.
  • They can be ANYTHING. Organization projects, DIY's, or even a recipe. Most of the things I plan to do are coming from Pinterest. A friend of mine did this in the summer, which is what gave me the idea (Thanks, Christina!) and I'm going to blog about each one, although it doesn't have to be individually or a long post.
  • I can prepare for them now, but I can't start them in January and they need to be completed by January 31.

Even though I'm already going to be busy with work, since I am a trainer and all and January is THE fitness month, I am really excited about this. I always have all these ideas and now it's time to get them done.
