Saw It, Pinned It, Did It: Airplane Savings Jar

I love a good Pinterest Project, so I wrote this post for the link up with A Beautiful Mess and Keep Calm and Carry On  except I went to their blogs and they're not hosting the link up this week, probably because one is going to visit the other in real life. Oh well, I'll post it anyways.

This is the original pin:

see the tutorial here

Yesterday was Leigh's birthday, which you might have seen if you follow me on  Instagram (@tarenevans) as I posted his delicious ice cream cake. I saw this pin and actually already posted it on my blog here, but I had a different idea for this pin. I wanted to make a jar for Leigh's birthday for his plane fund. Leigh loves planes and has some pretty awesome ones, like this one:

However, he is always needing parts ect so I decided to make him a little jar so he could put aside money for things he needs or saving up for his next big (hopefully not literally big) plane.
This is how it turned out:

All I did was buy a jar. Leigh's mom already had a little toy plane, glue gun, and spray paint because she's super crafty like that. We glued the plane to the jar lid and spray painted the whole thing silver. As you can see in the original pin, you can use any toy you want to reflect what your saving for.

This was a super easy little project, and I love that it can be used as a motivating tool to save money! All you have to do is look at your jar slowly filling up with money and it can motivate you to make your own coffee or dinner or not make any impulse purchases!
