April Health Challenge

via

So I'm announcing this here to keep myself accountable. I would say I eat pretty healthy for the most part. However, lately I've definitely been letting things slide. It's easy to do when you are crazy busy. If I don't prep food ahead of time it's a lot harder to make a good decision when I get hungry. For instance, I usually try to eat some oatmeal with protein powder before I leave the house. But sometimes I don't feel like eating right away so I wait till I get hungry, which is usually when I'm at work and have three seconds before my next client and I'll grab a protein bar. This has been happening way too often lately and I haven't been feeling that energetic so April is going to be a NO SUGAR month. This is just to cut out the extra sugar from my diet from protein bars, ect. It's amazing how many times sweets just kinda appear in our lives and usually I'll have a peice or two but those add up. And I don't even like that stuff that much! So out it goes.
Should be interesting. I'm also cutting out anything that turns to sugar such as bread, pasta ect.

As I always say to my clients, I'm not some superfit crazy trainer. What I am is a normal person who has been on both sides and knows how much better it feels on the fit healthy side. I try to bring as many people over to this side as possible. Which is why I'm posting this, because I'm only human and I struggle too.
Anyways, that's all for now, fun posts on my awesome weekend tomorrow!

Spring Bucket List

I'm obsessed with lists. I have an entire notebook filled with lists. One of the things I love doing is making lists of things I want to accomplish that month or season.

  • Plant some flowers and vegetables on my patio. My mother in law helped me with this last year, I believe some of the flowers are going to pop up again and I can't wait to see them and I want to add more.
  • Speaking of patio, it needs prettying up. Pressure washing, a new tablecloth, and I really want a chaise lounge. You know, for lounging. I want to lay in this comfy lounge chair and read my Kobo (hoping I'll have it repaired soon) and drink something delicious but probably sugar free.
  • Go to the drive in theatre with Leigh. I recently discovered you can bring your dog there, so I'm excited to do that. Just waiting for a good movie we'll both like to hit ours.
  • Clean and Organize Closet: Amazingly, this is almost done! I had a glass of wine the other night and decided to do some serious closet work. Not sure how those two things are related, but I think they are.
  • BBQ for the first time. I love BBQing. Mostly because I don't know how. That means all I have to do is buy some meat, marinate it a little, and Leigh magically is willing to cook dinner. It's amazing!
  • Try some new smoothie recipes. I always crave smoothies when the weather gets warmer, but I need to try some fresh ideas.
  • Go for brunch. I've been meaning to try the brunch at Newlands Golf Course and I think Spring is the perfect time.
  • Update my wardrobe a little. I'll be going to the states soon and I'm hoping I'll get some good spring finds. I can't wait to wear sundresses every single day. It is not uncommon for me to go home from work and change into a sundress even if I'm just making dinner.
This list makes me so happy!

Spring is here!

via

Spring is finally here! I say finally but really to me it felt like the shortest winter of all time. I think it's because my weeks go by so quickly since I'm so busy! I keep thinking about posts I should write but then I don't so I'm just gonna do a quick catch up.

Last weekend, Leigh and I decided to go to Whistler for the day. I was smarter this time and didn't wear flip flops, but it was still way colder than I thought AND it was snowing. Also, walking around the village with a very curious dog was interesting. We shared an elephant ear which was amazing. Me and Leigh, not me and the dog.

This week was super busy but I did have a few fun things. I picked up a new workout outfit which I'm in love with. I have been needing pants for a long time but couldn't find any I liked. And I'm glad I didn't listen to Leigh and just spring for Lululemon pants since they are see through apparently? I'm not a huge fan anyways, they are really overpriced for what they are.

Also, I got my nails done by my friend and I LOVE them! They aren't tips, just built up gel which I just found out from my friend you could even do. I hate getting tips glued on, so this is a great way to gr
ow my nails without having to do that. Apparently I can even paint them without ruining the sparkles so I'll be trying that out soon!

I just got home from a nice Sunday, I went to the Farmer's Market in Port Moody with my friend Hilary and we went for brunch. So nice and relaxing. I also went to Chapters and got some great deals on books with my mother in law. More posts on reading later this month, because I have been doing a lot of it (what else is new?) and I have a lot to share!

That's all for today!

Just Checking In

Hello there!
Just checking in since I haven't sat down at my computer all week. Is anyone else feeling super tired this  week? This morning was the worst! I'm going to go to bed ridiculously early tonight in hopes of re-energizing myself.
My awesome sister squeezed me in for a haircut today and gave me an adorable hairstyle for work tonight which is putting a little extra pep in my step!

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It: Airplane Savings Jar

I love a good Pinterest Project, so I wrote this post for the link up with A Beautiful Mess and Keep Calm and Carry On  except I went to their blogs and they're not hosting the link up this week, probably because one is going to visit the other in real life. Oh well, I'll post it anyways.

This is the original pin:

see the tutorial here

Yesterday was Leigh's birthday, which you might have seen if you follow me on  Instagram (@tarenevans) as I posted his delicious ice cream cake. I saw this pin and actually already posted it on my blog here, but I had a different idea for this pin. I wanted to make a jar for Leigh's birthday for his plane fund. Leigh loves planes and has some pretty awesome ones, like this one:

However, he is always needing parts ect so I decided to make him a little jar so he could put aside money for things he needs or saving up for his next big (hopefully not literally big) plane.
This is how it turned out:

All I did was buy a jar. Leigh's mom already had a little toy plane, glue gun, and spray paint because she's super crafty like that. We glued the plane to the jar lid and spray painted the whole thing silver. As you can see in the original pin, you can use any toy you want to reflect what your saving for.

This was a super easy little project, and I love that it can be used as a motivating tool to save money! All you have to do is look at your jar slowly filling up with money and it can motivate you to make your own coffee or dinner or not make any impulse purchases!

Things to be Happy About on a Monday

via

So, I have something to confess. After being in a super good mood last Monday (Which is my Sunday) I proceeded to be exhausted and grumpy on Tuesday (which is my Monday...still following me?) so it just goes to show, the first day of the week is always a little hard. I'm going to get to bed nice and early tonight so I can be nice and rested tomorrow. I have another busy week ahead of me. Lots of clients and to do lists to complete! Not to mention my workouts and own food prep!

I'm in a great mood today because:

a. the sun is shining like crazy and it's so, so lovely. Leigh and I are going to take our furbaby for a walk later and enjoy the sun.
b. I'm making spaghetti squash for dinner. Best low carb dinner ever.
c. the Bachelor is on tonight! The Women Tell All is one of the best episodes, I can't wait to see what Tierra and her crazy eyebrow have to say tonight.
d. It's Leigh's Birthday week! He says that's not a thing, but it totally is. His birthday is on Wednesday and I'm making lasagna rolls and there will be cake. But no singing allowed, according to him.
e. I got new peanut butter chocolate protein powder.

I think that's all for today. Hopefully tomorrow is just as awesome!

If you are NOT having an awesome day, just do what I do. Give yourself the night off from stress: go home, (or better yet, to the gym) take a bath, watch a movie, have a nice cup of tea or coffee and just take care of yourself. Tomorrow is always a new day.
